Daniel Dunleavy

Mr. Dunleavy is the Manager of Energy Strategy for Ingevity Corporation, a specialty chemical company based in Charleston, SC.  In his role, he oversees global physical energy procurement and the financial hedging program that supports the company’s energy position.  Mr. Dunleavy also supports business development for opportunities in the energy space.  Mr. Dunleavy is a key contributor to the company’s sustainability initiative, with a focus on environmental stewardship. Mr. Dunleavy spearheaded the development of the company’s on-site solar portfolio.

Mr. Dunleavy came to Ingevity after a 20-year career working on various trading desks on Wall St and the merchant energy arena.  At Morgan Stanley, he led the West power desk, which at the time was a pioneer in providing risk management solutions for the nascent wind and solar industries. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dunleavy worked at Sempra Energy Trading & Shell Trading, where he managed cross-commodity gas and power books.  In addition to his energy and environmental market experience, Mr. Dunleavy has traded a variety of derivatives as a former individual member of the CME.

Mr. Dunleavy served on various industry working groups in the early days of deregulation to establish standard terms and conditions for physical markets to help establish liquid trading hubs.  Similarly, he advised on the standards for the subsequent launch of financial derivatives covering these markets.
